With the stigma of a criminal background, individuals often find it difficult to transition back into their communities. Pathways to Success is conducted inside several correctional institutions to help prepare individuals for life after their release. While incarcerated, participants take an eighty-hour, pre-release class that focuses on workforce readiness. Before and after release Pathways to Success participants are coached on career development, assisted with job placement and work with faith-based mentors to help them ease the transition back to their communities.
In 2003 Pathways to Success was chosen to be a model program by the U.S. Department of Justice and the following year this program saved the Bureau of Prisons $3 million.
In November, 2005, Connections to Success’ Pathways to Success program was chosen from among over 2,500 applicants to be 1 of 30 prisoner re-entry initiatives funded through the Department of Labor.
